“In order to be a mentor, and an effective one, one must care. You must care. You don’t have to know how many square miles are in Idaho, you don’t need to know what is the chemical makeup of chemistry, or of blood or water. Know what you know and care about the person, care about what you know and care about the person you’re sharing with.” — Maya Angelou In April 2016, PJ Praise was established. The PJ Praise is an extension of Pajama Praise Inc. and is the mentoring program for young ladies aged 13 to 24. The mission of PJ Praise is to provide inspiration, motivation, mentoring and support through innovative and practical programs, encompassing a greater awareness of the love of God and self through P.R.A.I.S.E., which stands for: Promoting Positive Behavior Respecting Self and Others Awakening Potential Inspiring Purpose Sharing Enhancing Moral Values

Charlotte - Chicago Heights, IL (Medical) Mentoring means listening to one or many with your heart and replying with both a spiritual and natural experience, in hope that their current situation is resolved in time, with positive growth.

Jasmine - Calumet City, IL (Entrepreneur) Being a mentor means being an advisor. A mentor is easy to talk to and can be trusted. As mentors, we realize that we still fall short. God has given us experiences to share with future generations that may help them to develop into the women He has called them to be, and in turn we continue to learn valuable lessons through fellowship with these young sisters.

Karen - Chicago, IL (Law) For me, mentoring means to be truly authentic. As a mentor, I have learned to be transparent, genuine and honest. Building authentic relationships is at the core of mentoring because relationships are the foundation through which mentors help others learn and grow. Pajama Praise has helped me to learn to be my authentic self. It’s such a blessing to be part of a growing organization that continues to advance our youth and women to continue to walk in the path that God has for them.
